8 Morning Routines Of Successful Women

Women are unique and special in their own ways, and so are their morning routines. Most of us find ourselves hitting the snooze button at least 35 times before we drag ourselves over to the kitchen to down our first cup of strong coffee of the day.

The rare ones gracefully leap out of bed and hit the gym for a workout before making breakfast, putting the kids on the bus, then walking into work perfectly on time at 9AM. (Do those unicorns really even exist?)

Of course, everybody has different needs so our schedules won’t always look the same. However, there appears to be a very distinct pattern of morning habits that successful women all seem to share.

Try these eight tips that model the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Arianna Huffington and various other remarkable women and female entrepreneurs:

Waking up early for successful woman

1.  Wake up early.

Sure, it feels good to roll over and enjoy some extra sleep, but the way we wake up usually sets the pace for the rest of the day. Getting up early enough to start your day without feeling rushed is worth fighting through the initial grogginess that accompanies an earlier wakeup. That’s why 90% of executives wake up before 6am on weekdays, according to HuffPost.

Give yourself extra time to stretch, drink that cup of coffee at your leisure, cook a healthy breakfast, and kick the morning off with a sense of calm and peace. Plus, you’ll be more likely to show up wherever you need to be on time, awake and ready to go!

Be mindful, meditate - Successful woman

2.  Be mindful.

Do you find that when you wake up late and rush to do what you have to do that you’re more prone to stress, frustration and lashing out over little things? Spend a few minutes practicing mindful meditation every morning like Oprah Winfrey or actress Lupita Nyong’o. Maybe even sit back in your favorite chair and visualize how your perfect day would play out.

No matter what you do, setting aside some quiet time to reflect and center yourself after you wake up can ward off stress before it hits and provide you with the strength and focus to help you get through your 9 to 5 and beyond without losing your energy or cool-headedness.

Successful Woman - Exercise for

3.  Exercise.

Get your blood pumping in the AM to release those mood-boosting endorphins and endocannabinoids! Exercising in the morning enables you to start feeling good about yourself as early as possible, which can help you take on all of the tasks ahead of you with ease.

Whereas Vogue’s Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour plays tennis in the morning, Arianna Huffington practices yoga and meditation. Which workout do you prefer? Whether it’s pilates, a treadmill sesh, a hike, or a few crunches in the living room, squeezing that workout in before excuses and daily deadlines get in the way will jumpstart your metabolism, energy level, and focus (and give you more time to decompress after work).

Eat a healthy breakfast

4.  Eat a healthy breakfast

How many of us are guilty of reaching for the coffee and running out the door? A lot. That’s because it’s incredibly easy to skip out on a balanced meal.  However, taking the time to consume a healthy, energy-packed breakfast will keep you going longer than drinking caffeine alone.

Whip up a green juice like dancer, actress and singer Julianne Hough, eat a bowl of oatmeal topped with ripe berries, or throw some granola on top of your favorite flavor of yogurt. No matter how you choose to enjoy it, breakfast is without a doubt the most important meal of the day — especially if you start implementing tip #3!

Set daily goals and intentions

5.  Set daily goals and intentions.

This may come as a surprise to you, but your calendar isn’t your enemy. Nope, it actually helps you stay organized, keeps you on track and ensures that you plan how and when to accomplish your high-priority tasks.

Determine what you need to do during the day, then write those responsibilities down in a journal or on a note app on your phone. You can create a detailed list with set breaks for social media check-ins and “me” time or a simple list of things you have to get done at some point before your head hits the pillow at night.

Prepare for the next day the night before

6.  Prepare for the next day the night before.

Instead of partying (or working) all night, there are a few before-bed “hacks” to try out that will better organize your mornings and clear up your schedule for the following day.

Lay out the clothes you’ll be wearing the next day the night before, like CEO of Food52 Amanda Hesser. Place all of your belongings for work in one neat place. Meal prep your lunch and pack it up so all you have to do is snag it from the fridge before you walk out the door for work.

Relieve yourself of these little stresses by taking care of them the night before. Those extra 10-20 minutes in the morning can be used in so many ways!

Make your bed

7.  Make your bed.

There’s a reason why our parents always told us to make the bed in the morning. It undoubtedly sounds like a small, unimportant detail but making your bed before you leave the house is an incredibly useful morning habit that pays off whether we realize it or not.

According to a Navy Seal Admiral, “If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed.”

This is because making your bed will serve as your first accomplished task of the day, and that sense of accomplishment will carry through into everything you do all day. And despite whatever happens during your busy, hectic day, rest assured in knowing that you have an orderly space waiting for you to crawl into whenever you get home.

Get a good night's sleep

8.  Get a good night’s sleep.

No matter what your morning habits may look like, having the energy and drive to get out of bed comes much more naturally after a good night’s sleep. Even Michelle Obama has announced to the world that she’s in bed before her husband President Barack by 10pm.

Do you have trouble falling asleep or sleeping soundly throughout the night? If so, CBD oil is a natural, non-addictive sleep aid that improves sleep, reduces stress, relieves anxiety, and provides the balance that your mind and body desperately crave.

Try incorporating CBD oil into your daily routine (both morning and at night) for more restorative sleep and increased focus so you can make the most out of your day from the very start – like the successful woman you already are!
